Crown and Bridge Dentistry

This is the area of dentistry Dr. Hamburg has emphasized in their continuing education, and how they spend most of their "chair-time."

A crown becomes necessary when a tooth has lost too much structure for a filling, or when a laminate is simply "not enough" to change the appearance of the tooth. A crown is a restoration that covers, or "caps," a tooth to restore it to its normal shape and size, strengthening and improving its appearance.

Our goal is to create crowns that look like, or better than, your natural teeth. To achieve a certain look, we consider the color, bite, shape and length of your teeth. If you have a certain look in mind for your crown, we can discuss this so when the procedure is complete, your teeth will be stronger and more attractive.

We also offer "cosmetic imaging" and/or "diagnostic wax-ups,", in which we have the lab create your smile in white wax on a model so you can see "where we're going before we go there."

If you have a missing tooth or teeth and dental implants are not an option, crowns can suspend the missing tooth and is termed a bridge. With the proper technique and materials mixed with a little artistry, bridges can look and feel very natural. A bridge is used to replace missing teeth by splinting a "fake tooth" to the adjacent teeth with crowns.
