Poughkeepsie NY Dentist Dr. Larry Hamburg
I have been living and practicing in Dutchess County since 1983. I enjoy all phases of dentistry, but focus my continuing education and practice on esthetics and oral rehabilitation. I also lecture and teach about dental esthetics and technology in the dental office, as well as oral cancer diagnosis and treatment.
For my first five years as a dentist, I looked for the finest dental facility in Dutchess County. In 1988, it was my good fortune to purchase Dr. Mel Engelman’s practice. This was an office owned by a true master dentist; he performed the most elegant dentistry I had ever seen. Our referral-based practice grew and, in 2002, I purchased Dr. Sheldon Werner’s office in LaGrange. We renovated to the current, 2,600 sq. ft. facility that I had dreamed of for more than 20 years.
My parents instilled in me the importance of having integrity and pride in whatever I do; therefore, just as my father did in his NYC dental practice, all my dentistry is warranteed. I always use the finest materials and state-of-the-art equipment, and offer the highest quality dentistry at reasonable prices.
My personal “passions” are golf, tennis, playing guitar and spending time with my wife Anne Marie, and our two wonderful boys, Jamie and Ryan. Although I honestly love dentistry, my family is the center of my world.
Dr. Melissa Rodgers
Dr. Melissa Rodgers joined Hudson Valley Dental Arts as an associate in August 2007. A 2002 graduate of Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, Dr. Rodgers is an accomplished general dentist.
She has completed a one-year comprehensive general practice residency at Danbury Hospital. Dr. Rodgers keeps up on all the latest dental technology to ensure her patients have the highest quality dental care available.
Her gentle touch makes her in demand for treating the entire family!

Appointments
All patients are seen on an appointment basis. We ask that you call to schedule your appointments in advance. We want to allow sufficient time and attention to give you the best quality care possible, with the least amount of waiting time, and we ask that our patients cooperate in making and keeping appointments.
Our average wait time is less than five minutes. For your convenience, we offer early evening and Saturday appointments. There will be no charge for appointments cancelled 24 hours in advance.
Emergency Care
Dental emergencies can be upsetting and uncomfortable. We are always available to accommodate our patients with immediate care for urgent needs. If your emergency occurs during “off” hours, we have 24-hour coverage (via cell phone), and one of our experienced staff members will do their best to take care of your problem.
Financial Policy
It is customary to receive full payment at the time service is rendered.
- For dental care requiring more than one visit, we appreciate payments made as each service is rendered.
- We work with most insurance companies to try to maximize your benefits. Although we prefer payment at the time of service, we are willing to work with you to try to get your reimbursement as soon as possible, and we may, on occasion, be willing to wait for that insurance payment. We will do everything in our power to estimate your reimbursement, as well as do everything we can to help you get your insurance benefits in a timely fashion. However, we expect full payment within six weeks of service. When necessary, other financial arrangements may be made with our staff.
- Our office policy is “Inform before you perform” so you can expect our staff to let you know what our fee will be—and what we expect your insurance to cover— before we touch your teeth! If you have questions concerning financial arrangements, please ask us.
- For your convenience, we accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover and CareCredit—a dental credit card that can be approved within minutes and offers no-interest, short-term loans for your dental work.

Our grand tiled entrance leads the way to our state-of-the-art office. Most patients say “wow!” We have one of the finest sound systems available throughout the office, and patients are welcome to bring their own CDs.
Our reception area has a television and magazines, along with coffee and tea, but don’t get too comfortable! Our average wait is about five minutes.
This two-foot-tall sculpture of Dickey Betts (guitarist, singer and songwriter) graces a nook at the end of our corridor.
One of our five treatment rooms, all with sweeping views into the rear of our property, where patients often see deer and other area wildlife.
In our consult area, we greet new patients with a presentation that explains what they can expect while under our expert care.
